Quality Engineer Civil Job Description:
The QA/QC engineer qualifications generally include a degree in engineering, along with specialized training in quality management.
Duties and responsibilities of a QA/QC engineer in the construction industry.
- Accountable for the quality and quality of every activity, precise knowledge of all aspects of engineering construction relating to Civil, Architectural, and Structural discipline interfacing the multidisciplinary processes.
- Responsible for QA/QC documents of the complete project, including certificates, calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observations, permanent materials delivered, and other important QA/QC documents.
- Develop and determine all standards to perform inspections and tests on all procedures, oversee all testing methods, and maintain high-quality standards for all processes.
- Review the quality of all materials at the site, ensure compliance with all project specifications and quality, and collaborate with the department for all material procurement and quality materials.
- Supervise the effective implementation of all test and inspection schedules, ensure adherence to all procedures, and coordinate with various teams to perform quality audits on processes.
- Assist employees in ensuring knowledge of all quality standards, ensure compliance with all quality manuals and procedures, and collaborate with contractors and suppliers to maintain the quality of all systems.
- Manage to lift all equipment, handle the efficient storage of all hazardous materials, and perform quality audits per the required schedule.
- Monitor an efficient system, record all project activities, and analyze all processes to ensure all work meets quality requirements.
- Manage all work methods, maintain knowledge of quality assurance standards, monitor continuous application for all quality assurance processes, and recommend corrective actions for all operations.
- Develop a method statement for the activity, including risk assessment, job safety environmental analysis, and Inspection
- Test Plan and Checklist based on project specifications.
- Liaise with the Technical Engineer for submission of material submittals to the Consultant
- Coordinate with the Consultant’s representative and Site In-charge for Inspection.

Site Plan

The site plan should be updated regularly to reflect any changes or modifications that occur during the project.
Material Test Reports
Material test reports are documents that certify the quality and performance of the materials used in the site development, such as soil, concrete, asphalt, steel, and aggregates. They are issued by accredited laboratories that conduct various tests on the samples of the materials, such as compaction, strength, durability, and composition. They are used to verify that the materials meet the specifications and standards required for the project, and to identify any defects or non-conformities that need to be corrected or replaced.
Inspection Reports
Inspection reports are documents that record the results of the inspections conducted on the site development, by either the contractor, the client, or a third-party inspector. They are used to check the quality and compliance of the work done on the site, such as the installation, alignment, level, and condition of the components and systems. They are also used to monitor the progress and performance of the project, and to identify any issues or problems that need to be resolved or improved.
Change Orders
Change orders are documents that authorize and document any changes or deviations from the original contract or scope of work for the site development. They are used to adjust the schedule, budget, specifications, or design of the project, due to unforeseen circumstances, client requests, or contractor suggestions. They are also used to communicate and agree on the terms and conditions of the changes, such as the cost, time, and quality implications, and to avoid any disputes or conflicts that may arise from the changes.
As-Built Drawings
As-built drawings are drawings that show the final and actual condition of the site development, after the completion of the project. They are used to document any differences or variations between the design and the construction of the site, such as the location, size, shape, and orientation of the elements and features. They are also used to provide accurate and updated information for the operation, maintenance, and future modifications of the site.

- Knowledge of International Organization for Standardization quality systems
- Knowledge of Society of Automotive Engineers quality systems (in the automotive and aerospace sectors)
- Verify contractor quality requirements are specified to vendors and contractor documentation submittals.
- The preparation and control of project quality system management documentation before project commencement.
- QA/QC engineer reviews quality inspection personnel qualifications and training requirements
- Monitor the disposition of all issued non-nonconformances.

- The quality control procurement manager coordinates and inspects all procured items for a site. He is responsible for the project’s QA manager.

- The coordination and resolution of any nonconforming product Reviewing vendor’s QA/QC systems following contractual requirements
- Ensure the verification of documentation and certificates for materials purchased by vendors
- Review of supplier quality plans against contract requirements
- Quality Assurance Quality Control Manager (Site)
- The company site Quality Control Manager reports to the company QA Manager. He ensures the quality of the site installations is consistent with the company’s policy requirements, national and international standards, and the customers’ specifications.
- Implement the QA/QC management system at the site
- Coordinate quality inspections with all the site subcontractors and vendors and coordinate all non-destructive testing on site
- Distribute relevant QA/QC documentation to site subcontractors
- Verify that the quality-related site activities are following the applicable codes and standards
- Participate in the site’s internal and external site audits
- Coordinate all the quality site inspections through the site QC inspectors
- Ensure all quality control documentation is compiled and completed for as-built handover through the QC turnover engineer
- Compete for site quality control instructions and corrective action responses
- Review the customers’ specifications and undertake relevant training for the site QC inspector
- Monitor the implementation of the approved site QC Plan.
